Essential Duties & Responsibilities

As a Farm Equipment Mechanic, you'll help keep our equipment operating safely, reliably, and efficiently by:

• Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing tractors, forklifts, trailers, irrigation systems, conveyors, and custom-built production equipment.
• Performing preventative maintenance and routine servicing to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
• Inspecting, repairing, and replacing tires on a variety of equipment.
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine-related systems.
• Maintaining accurate service records and repair documentation.
• Collaborating with experienced mechanics to troubleshoot complex equipment issues and share technical knowledge.
• Performing welding and fabrication projects using MIG, TIG, stick, and gas welding processes.
• Helping improve equipment performance through repairs, fabrication, equipment modifications, and continuous improvement projects.
• Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment while properly caring for company tools, equipment, and parts.
• Communicating repair progress and equipment needs while following all company safety policies and procedures.

To be successful in this role, you'll have:

• A strong mechanical aptitude developed through technical school, previous employment, internships, military service, or personal projects.
• A desire to build your skills working with diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, drivetrains, and specialized production equipment.
• A valid driver's license with an insurable driving record.
• A commitment to working safely while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
• The ability to work independently, manage priorities, and contribute as part of a collaborative team.
• Your own basic mechanic's tool set appropriate for the position.
• Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, or occasional off-hours during seasonal production or emergency equipment repairs.

Preferred Qualifications

The following experience is a plus, but not required. If you're mechanically inclined and excited to learn, we'd still encourage you to apply.

• Technical degree or certificate in Diesel Technology, Agricultural Equipment Technology, Heavy Equipment, Automotive Technology, or a related mechanical field.
• Experience maintaining agricultural, heavy equipment, diesel, automotive, or industrial equipment.
• Familiarity with hydraulic, electrical, and diesel engine systems.
• Welding and fabrication experience using MIG, TIG, stick, or gas welding processes.
• Experience operating tractors, forklifts, loaders, or other agricultural or industrial equipment.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This is a hands-on position performed both in our shop and throughout our nursery operations.

Team members should be comfortable:

• Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, and working in a physically active environment throughout the day.
• Frequently lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds with assistance.
• Working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and wind.
• Safely using required personal protective equipment (PPE) and following all company safety procedures.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching. The employee must regularly lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds with assistance. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, with exposure to weather conditions such as heat, cold, rain, and wind. PPE may be required in certain work areas.
