About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: MS/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:00) Experience: Minimum 1 year required License: New York license required Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: - Competency in phlebotomy - Ability to place IVs - Interpretation of dysrhythmias - Management of dysrhythmias - IV insulin protocols - Feeding tube care and management - Blood product administration - Peripheral line care/management - Heparin protocols - Management of cardiac drips (no titration) - PCA experience - Ortho trauma experience - Total joint replacement experience - Chest tube care (Emerson/Pleur-Evac) - External CPAP/BIPAP management - High flow nasal cannula (HFNC) - Tracheostomy management - Wound care/wound vac experience Description: Registered Nurses are required to have mandatory competency with phlebotomy as well as the ability to place IVs. These skills are fundamental for any RN role. During the day/evening shifts, the patient-to-nurse ratio is typically 5:1, with potential stretches to 6-7:1. Night shift ratios may range from 6-7:1, stretching to 8-10:1 if there are staff call-ins. Patient care technicians are present on all units, assisting with vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and activities of daily living. Candidates will be expected to float within their scope to meet facility needs. This role requires collaboration with interdisciplinary support teams including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams. The patient population includes adults and geriatrics, with common diagnoses including osteoarthritis and fractures. Epic experience is preferred for charting tasks.
