What a typical day looks like

You start early, give your diesel box truck a quick walk-around, and map your route for on-time, fuel‑smart stops. Your morning is all about nurturing existing customer relationships—checking on service needs, solving small problems before they grow, and capturing notes in CRM/Salesforce. Midday, you carve out time for prospecting: a few cold calls between appointments, a drop‑in at a construction site, and follow‑ups from last week’s networking event. Throughout the day you document driver logs, route performance, and maintenance schedules, and you keep an eye on compliance with DOT regulations, company safety standards, and environmental laws. Before heading home, you review tomorrow’s plan, ensure equipment is serviced, and log every interaction so nothing falls through the cracks.

What you’ll do

• Grow and strengthen relationships with current accounts through reliable, solutions‑oriented service.
• Organize your day using activity and performance-based goals to hit sales targets.
• Generate new business via cold calling, networking, and lead generation campaigns.
• Deliver standout customer service by professionally managing inquiries and requests.
• Plan and optimize collection routes for efficiency, fuel savings, and punctual service.
• Ensure vehicles and equipment are properly maintained and serviced.
• Maintain accurate operational records: driver logs, route KPIs, and maintenance timelines.
• Uphold DOT, safety, and environmental compliance at all times.
• Record activities, follow-ups, and appointments in CRM/Salesforce.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Entry-level friendly; 2+ years in a business environment is a plus.
• Background in waste management or transportation is advantageous.

Role requirements

• Ability to locally drive a 26,000 lb truck (CDL NOT Required).
• Operate heavy equipment from the driver’s cabin.
• Light mechanical aptitude.
• Successful completion of DOT-required assessments.
• Valid driver’s license.

Preferred experience

• Background in Route Sales, Industrial Sales, or Construction.
• Familiarity with route management or fleet tracking software.
• Working knowledge of DOT rules, route logistics, and equipment safety.
• Comfort with apps, social media, Microsoft Office, and handheld technology.
