Spencer County Health Dept School Liaison

The Spencer County Health Department has added a new School Liaison position. Job Type: Part Time/ Non-Medical/ Contractual Pay: $24.00 per hour Currently based on 585 hours per year Description The lncumbent serves as School Liaison for the Spencer County Health Department, responsible for providing support to the department personnel and serving as a local resource for K-12 schools within the county by working with the school nurses. Duties Partnering lo Implement school wellness policies, including a comprehensive strategy to address substance use in schools. Partnering with schools to promote whole child health, including physical, mentor and student health and wellbeing. Supporting schools in performing health screenings, such as vision, hearing and oral health. Collaborate and enhancing of current vaccination efforts to ensure childhood vaccine requirements and seasonal vaccine needs are addressed. Developing and collaborating with school and community partners to help support school needs and supporting schools with evidence-based education on nutrition and physical activity. Support schools in their communicable disease response plans to ensure continuity of planning throughout the jurisdiction. Identify both external and internal resources available to support LHD's and schools to continue and sustain best practices and initiatives as identified through this work. Requirements Be able to communicate orally in public and in writing. Be personable and work as a team member. Be able to provide timely feedback and documentation of activity to LHD, IDOH and School Corporation Ability to maintain confidentiality of restricted information and follow instructions. Ability to work with children and adults. Ability to work in groups and with Individuals of varied backgrounds.
