The shift will be 4x12 hours, from 07:00 to 19:30. Patient population can include a variety of cases, such as ER boarded patients, telemetry, and medical surgical cases. This position requires the ability to float to meet the needs across different units. The nurse-to-patient ratio may vary from 1:4 to 1:6, depending on unit acuity. The clinician must possess relevant experience in the US healthcare system; Canadian experience alone will not qualify. Responsibilities may include charge nurse duties but will primarily apply on smaller units staffed with 1 to 2 RNs, supported by LPNs and CNAs. On these smaller units, the sole RN will function as the charge nurse. This role includes essential charge duties such as managing staffing needs, bed flow, and general coordination. The float registered nurse will work closely with interdisciplinary support teams, including physical therapy and respiratory services. The patient age groups include adults and geriatrics. Daily census varies, requiring adaptability to changing circumstances. This position may include coverage for weekends. Travelers may be expected to float between nearby facilities. Refusal to float may lead to termination of the assignment. All candidates must have the ability to provide effective patient care in various settings.
