Responsibilities Instruction Inclusive teaching is a deliberate practice that recognizes and values the diverse social, cultural, community identities, and lived experiences of all learners. It employs strategies that connect learning to students’ lives and professional development. Responsibilities include: Regular and varied communication with students to foster a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment. Creation of engaging and dynamic learning experiences that promote student learning, discussion, and growth. Consistent feedback and guidance to support students’ academic and professional development. Individualized instructional support that demonstrates genuine care for student well-being and growth. Contribution to the mission and vision of Walden University. Accessibility to students through multiple channels (email, phone, text, office hours, and appointments). Scholarship Walden recognizes scholarship as essential to effective teaching and the development of scholar-practitioner students. Faculty engage in scholarship aligned with Walden’s mission, coordinated with academic leadership; specific requirements are determined by the program and/or college. Service Faculty are expected to demonstrate a consistent record of service to the institution and broader community, contributing to Walden’s educational mission. Other Duties and Responsibilities Adhere to all Walden University faculty expectations as outlined at the time of employment and in the Faculty Handbook. Participate in required virtual and in-person faculty meetings, residencies, workshops, commencements, and training sessions. Maintain a student-friendly schedule, including availability during evenings and weekends. Required for All Jobs Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards. Qualifications A doctoral degree in the relevant field or a closely related discipline is required. Candidates who can consider diverse and sometimes conflicting perspectives are preferred. A demonstrated capacity to provide individualized instructional support and guidance to students is essential. Experience with doctoral capstone projects focused on problems of practice in the professional work setting is preferred. Work Experience A minimum of three years of teaching experience is required, or a demonstrated capacity to foster a welcoming and inclusive learning environment. Experience supporting doctoral research committees is required, or a demonstrated capacity to mentor a diverse doctoral student population. Experience with distance learning is preferred. Candidates with experience mentoring doctoral students on capstone projects focused on evidence-based decision-making are preferred. Actual pay may be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as course type, experience, training, location, and market factors. Walden offers additional opportunities for contributing faculty, including dissertation/doctoral study committee chair positions, research reviewing, and mentoring.
