Student Worker MHS Culinary Apprentice

Assist in the accomplishment of all jobs assigned to the Culinary Arts Program. Will not work alone and assist others as required. Assist in maintaining organization and other areas as assigned under the supervision of the program director.

Education/Certification: EISD student enrolled in the 3rd or 4th year of the Culinary Arts program Food Handler Certification

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions General knowledge of safe working practices and general attitudes Student ONLY Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and nonverbally) Ability to work with teams Ability to demonstrate appropriate business and personal etiquette in the workplace

2 years in Culinary Arts

Complete assigned tasks as directed by supervising instructor Cafeteria or food service preparation Safety Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing. Operate equipment and use tools according to established safety procedures. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor. Maintain tools and equipment and perform preventive maintenance as required. Perform other duties as assigned in the best interest of the district- under the supervision of Program Director and supervising Instructor.

Tools/Equipment Used: Office equipment, kitchen tools/supplies Posture: Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting Motion: Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead 1 reaching Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (15 pounds and over) on a daily basis Environment: Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials, noise, vibration Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress Shift Type-Hours as assigned during program time frame
