Decontamination Technician - Trauma Level I & II Experience Required

This is a 16-week contract position.

Day Shift: Monday - Friday, 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM

The Decontamination Technician is responsible for the primary decontamination of medical instruments and equipment. The role includes floating within the department to sterilization as needed. The ideal candidate must have experience in trauma settings and demonstrate proficiency in aseptic technique and sterilization processes.

Responsibilities:

• Perform decontamination of instruments and medical equipment.
• Operate steam sterilizers, washer disinfectors, and other specialized equipment.
• Ensure proper handling, labeling, and wrapping of sterilized items.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for optimal patient care.
• Follow all safety and infection control protocols.
• Participate in training and orientation sessions as required.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a trauma setting (Level I or II preferred).
• Active CBSPD and IAHCSMM/HSPA certifications.
• BLS certification required.
• Experience with steam sterilization, chemical indicators, and aseptic techniques.
• Ability to float within the specialty and adapt to various units and environments.
