Operations Specialist

Summary

The Office of the Assistant Secretary for Administration and Management (OASAM) provide the infrastructure and support that enables the U.S. Department of Labor to perform its mission. OASAM provides leadership and support for information technology human resources management procurement business operations safety and health space management civil rights emergency management security budget and performance.

Duties

The incumbent of this position will serve as an Operations this position the incumbent will actively participate in and contribute to the overall Office of the Assistant Secretary for Administration and Management (OASAM) operations acting as a liaison and consultant between the various centers within OASAM and OASAM leadership. The specific areas of expertise vary and will be reflected in the performance plan on the individuals appointed to the position.

The following are major duties of the GSOperations Specialist. This is not an all inclusive list and other duties may be assigned.

• Perform and oversee special studies projects and processes related to the management and evaluation of OASAM; gathering tracking and analyzing data while identifying issues or problems.
• Serve as a consultant to executive managers supervisors and project leaders on the development and/or execution of major operational areas and programs and provide strategic guidance throughout each project.
• Coordinate multiple projects and reconcile the interdependencies among them.
• Collaborate with OASAM centers and regional offices to facilitate communication across OASAM and identify ways to resolve conflicting priorities.
• Conduct the strategic planning and performance management activities necessary to support OASAMs strategic objectives.
• Represent OASAM leadership serving as a member or leader on project teams that are assembled to execute the administrations initiatives.
• Sustain constant familiarity with and awareness of emerging research legislative and policy developments to develop the most up-to-date and informed research products.

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Candidate required to obtain the necessary security/investigation level.
• Requires a probationary period if the requirement has not been met.

Qualifications

Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level GS-11 in the Federal Service.

Specialized Experience is the experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge skills and abilities (KSAs) to perform the duties of the position successfully and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.

Qualifying specialized experience for this position includes ALL of the following:

• Experience performing special studies or projects related to management and evaluation programs using qualitative and quantitative methods.
• Experience gathering tracking and analyzing data as well as identifying issues or problems recommending solutions and preparing reports and briefings related to the assignments.
• Experience facilitating communication and coordination between a variety of individuals to reach a common goal.
• Experience researching and interpreting policy/procedures sufficient to provide guidance to others.

Education

There is no substitution of education for experience at the GS-12 level.
