This is an opportunity to join a team that values safety, quality workmanship, accountability, and professional growth while working on impactful underground utility projects.As a Project Superintendent, you will play a key leadership role in directing field operations, mentoring crews, coordinating with project stakeholders, and ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to the highest standards.What You'll DoLead Field OperationsPlan, coordinate, and oversee daily construction activities on water and sewer pipeline projects.Manage crews, equipment, subcontractors, and work sequencing to maintain production goals.Ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards.Champion SafetyLead daily safety efforts and promote a strong safety culture.Ensure compliance with trenching, excavation, shoring, and utility construction safety requirements.Conduct jobsite safety inspections and address potential hazards proactively.Manage Project ExecutionCoordinate material, equipment, and manpower needs with Project Managers.Monitor job progress, productivity, and quality standards.Communicate effectively with owners, engineers, inspectors, and other project stakeholders.Develop and Support Your TeamMentor and train field personnel to support their professional development.Assist with crew management, performance coaching, and workforce planning.Promote teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.Administrative ResponsibilitiesComplete and submit daily crew time reporting and required project documentation.Maintain accurate records related to labor, equipment, and project activities.What We're Looking ForRequired Experience10+ years of experience in the water and sewer construction industry.5+ years of experience as a Foreman or Superintendent leading utility construction crews.Proven experience managing pipeline installation projects from field execution through completion.Technical KnowledgeStrong understanding of water and sewer utility installation practices.Experience operating large excavators in the 80,000-130,000 lb class.Knowledge of trenching, excavation, and trench shoring systems.Competent Person experience related to excavation and trench safety.Basic mechanical knowledge for equipment inspection, troubleshooting, and daily maintenance.QualificationsValid driver's license.Ability to maintain an active DOT physical.Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).OSHA 30 certification preferred (or willingness to obtain upon employment; physical card required).Leadership TraitsPositive attitude and strong work ethic.Ability to adapt to changing project conditions and unforeseen challenges.Strong communication and problem-solving skills.Passion for teaching, mentoring, and developing team members.Commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.Travel RequirementsThis position is based in Charleston, South Carolina.Travel is required for projects located throughout South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia.Approximately 90% of project work is currently located in South Carolina.Why Join Us?Lead meaningful infrastructure projects that improve communities.Work with experienced professionals who value teamwork and safety.Opportunity to mentor crews and help shape the next generation of utility construction professionals.Stable pipeline of utility construction work throughout the Southeast.Competitive compensation, benefits, and career advancement opportunities.Join a company that invests in its people and promotes from within.Build the infrastructure communities depend on every day.If you're ready to lead crews, tackle challenging utility construction projects, and advance your career with a growing organization, we'd love to hear from you.Apply today and bring your leadership experience to a team committed to excellence in water and sewer construction.EEO EmployerApex Systems is an equal opportunity employer.
