Accounting Specialist

About the Opportunity We are seeking a detail-oriented *Accounting Specialist* to join a growing accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with accounting experience who enjoys working with reconciliations, invoicing, and data entry in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, and able to manage deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
This position offers the potential to transition into a full-time, permanent opportunity based on performance and business needs.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare monthly accounts receivable (AR) client invoice billings
* Generate and maintain monthly internal billing reports
* Perform high-volume daily and monthly account reconciliations
* Investigate, follow up on, and resolve outstanding reconciliation items
* Enter and maintain accurate financial data within accounting systems
* Assist with month-end close activities and meet established deadlines
* Support additional accounting-related tasks and projects as assigned
Required Qualifications
* Minimum of 1 year of accounting experience
* Understanding of basic accounting principles, including debits and credits
* Experience with invoicing and account reconciliations
* Strong data entry skills and attention to detail
* Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including data entry and basic formulas
* Strong computer proficiency and ability to learn new systems
* Experience working in the financial services industry
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience using QuickBooks
* Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
* Candidates with a high school diploma and significant accounting experience will also be considered

*Job Type & Location*This is a Contract position based out of Decatur, IL.
*Pay and Benefits*The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr.
