The Radiation Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) plays a vital role within the radiation oncology team. This team is committed to delivering patient care and supportive services aimed at achieving optimal patient outcomes through the collaborative skills of all department members. The Radiation Oncology RN is tasked with assessing and implementing appropriate nursing interventions for both actual and potential issues that patients and their families may face concerning the disease, treatment, and follow-up care. This position also involves providing education, counseling, and support to help patients and families navigate the challenges of a cancer diagnosis and treatment.

• Work both independently and collaboratively with the radiation oncology team to ensure high-quality patient care.
• Deliver clinical care, nursing consultation, and education related to oncology and radiation therapy.
• Conduct assessments, diagnoses, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation, focusing on the continuum of care for patients undergoing radiotherapy, as well as their families and caregivers.
• Engage in leadership roles as a clinician, educator, consultant, and/or researcher.
• Collaborate with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team to enhance clinical outcomes.
• Report any significant changes in a patient's condition to the Radiation Oncologist and execute the nursing action plan to address these issues.
• Assist in coordinating the flow and care of radiation oncology patients within the clinic as part of the nursing team.
• Support the learning needs of patients, families, and significant others by identifying barriers to learning, such as language or cultural differences, and integrating this information into the care plan.
• Document the educational needs of patients, families, and caregivers in collaboration with other disciplines and implement ongoing education tailored to these needs.
• Explain tests, procedures, disease processes, medications, and equipment to patients and families throughout the treatment journey.
• Perform additional related duties as assigned.

• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Associate Degree, Registered Nurse Diploma, or Bachelor’s Degree in nursing.
• No travel required.
• No prior experience necessary.
