Cross Country Nurses is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Wausau, Wisconsin. Job Description & Requirements Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit Discipline: RN Start Date: 07/27/2026 Duration: 10 weeks 48 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Job Summary The professional registered nurse (RN) specializing in Cardiac Telemetry and Step Down units is assigned to an intermediate cardiac step down unit at a healthcare facility in Wausau, Wisconsin. This position involves providing skilled patient care in a fast‑paced environment characterized by high patient turnover, including post‑operative cardiac cases and various acute cardiac conditions. The RN will work during overnight hours, with scheduled shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, and will be responsible for managing a typical patient ratio of 1:4. Job Details Schedule: 12‑hour night shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, minimum of 48 hours per week. Required Qualifications: WI RN License, BLS certification, ACLS certification, Associate Degree or Certificate (Bachelor’s Degree preferred), at least 1 year of strong cardiac experience (Cardiac Step Down Unit, Intermediate Cardiac, or Cardiac Intensive Care Unit), 2 years of IMC/Progressive Care Unit/Telemetry experience, at least one completed travel assignment, 1 year recent EPIC charting experience, and ability to pass an EKG test within the first week of hire. Additional Requirements: Must have experience with Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitro drips. Certifications: BLS, ACLS, AHA or ARC certification. Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in cardiac and intermediate/progressive care units, with a minimum of 1 year recent EPIC charting. Unit Information: 44‑bed intermediate cardiac step down with high patient turnover, including post‑op CABG/Valve, thoracotomy, Vascular, Arrhythmia, CHF, post‑procedure cath, pacer, defibrillator, ablations, acute coronary syndromes, and cardiac overflow. Additional Clinical Notes: The unit operates with a patient ratio of approximately 1:4. Candidates must demonstrate resilience, adaptability, social independence, and the ability to manage change effectively. Scrub colors can be any color.
