Job Title: Construction Laborer / Traveling Technician

Job Description

This role combines hands-on construction labor with traveling field technician responsibilities. You perform general manual labor tasks such as loading, unloading, lifting, and moving materials, while supporting hydro-excavation, storm and sewer line cleaning, and pipe-jetting activities. You work independently or as part of a team and take on miscellaneous related duties and special projects as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Perform general manual labor tasks including loading, unloading, lifting, and moving construction materials and equipment.
• Assist with hydro-excavation operations, ensuring safe and efficient removal of soil and debris around utilities and structures.
• Support storm and sewer line cleaning activities, including setup, operation, and cleanup of related equipment.
• Help with pipe-jetting tasks to clear and maintain underground pipelines and drainage systems.
• Carry out miscellaneous related duties on construction and field service projects as assigned.
• Participate in special projects, adapting to changing priorities and work requirements.
• Work independently with minimal supervision, taking ownership of assigned tasks and following instructions accurately.
• Collaborate as an active member of a team, communicating effectively with coworkers and supervisors.
• Travel to various job sites, often outside the local area, and adjust to different work locations and conditions.
• Work overtime as needed, including nights and weekends, to meet project schedules and deadlines.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, following safety procedures and using equipment properly.
• Demonstrate adaptability in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong attention to detail.

Essential Skills

• Experience performing general construction labor, including loading, unloading, lifting, and moving materials.
• Ability to assist with hydro-excavation, storm and sewer line cleaning, and pipe-jetting activities.
• Experience in construction, field service, pipe laying, hydrovac operations, excavation, or general labor.
• Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift at least 80 pounds on a regular basis.
• Adaptability in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as an active member of a team.
• Willingness and ability to work in excess of regularly scheduled hours when necessary, including nights and weekends.
• Ability to travel frequently, with most projects located outside the immediate local area.
• Demonstrated ability to fit well within a collaborative company culture.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Familiarity with construction site safety practices and safe equipment handling.
• Comfort working on projects that change locations based on client and project needs.
• Strong work ethic and reliability in showing up prepared for physically demanding tasks.

Work Environment

You primarily work outdoors, with the specific location depending on the project. Job sites can vary and often require travel to areas outside the local region. The environment is physically demanding, involving standing, bending, squatting, lifting heavy materials, and working in a fast-paced setting. Work hours may extend beyond a standard schedule, including nights and weekends, especially when projects require overtime. You use construction and field service equipment related to excavation, hydrovac operations, and pipe maintenance, and you follow site safety practices appropriate for outdoor construction work.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Olathe, KS.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Olathe,KS.
