About the Facility Phoenix Indian Medical Center The PIMC provides direct health care services to 156,815 patients. The Tribes that comprise the Phoenix Service Unit are, the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation, the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, and the San Lucy District of the Tohono O'odham Nation, the Tonto Apache Tribe, the Yavapai-Apache Indian Tribe, and the Yavapai Prescott Indian Tribe. Tribal members who receive care at PIMC are often residents of the greater Phoenix area and hail from Tribes throughout the U.S. PIMC also provides specialty care to rural and remote reservation health care facilities in Arizona, Nevada, and Utah. Responsibilities

• To provide chairside assistance during oral examinations and restorative treatments.
• Passes instruments and materials to/from dentist.
• Operates oral evacuator and suction tip to keep area of operation clear.
• Retracts tissue, check and tongue.
• Operates x-ray equipment to make intra-oral x-rays such as periapical and bite-wing exposures.
• Receives and prepares patients for treatment.
• Lays out instruments and materials needed for treatment.
• Properly stores and maintains adequate supplies in dental station; prepares sterile trays, packs, sutures, etc.
• Assist and perform services/duties as may be requested for normal operational requirements of department and personnel, which may include moderate lifting and moving of furniture, equipment, and boxes of office supplies.

Requirements

• Current state/national certification or a diploma from an accredited dental assisting program, or at least 1 year of on the job training.
• Bilingual in Spanish is preferred, but not required.
• Radiology certification from either Dental Assisting National Board or a State Board Radiology Certificate issued by any American state, the District of Columbus, or Puerto Rico.

Terms

Base term of one year, and four one-year option periods. Hours of the facility are Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm.
