Transportation Engineer (Civil)

Job Title

Under the direction of a Senior Transportation Engineer, the incumbent is responsible for preparing Project Initiation Documents (PIDs). Responsibilities include conducting engineering feasibility studies, preparing conceptual plans based on preliminary geometric designs, calculating preliminary cost estimates, and writing draft and final reports. The incumbent may serve as a team lead or work independently on assigned projects. Possession of a valid California Drivers License is required when operating a state owned or leased vehicle. A Professional Engineering License is required for Range D.

Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Transportation Engineer, Civil exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions.
