HOUSE MANAGER

General Responsibilities: Under the direction of the general direction of the Community Training Home Supervisor, the House Manager ensures that skills training is continually provided to all CTH advocates based on their identified developmental, behavioral and social needs. Coordinates and monitors the delivery of support services to residential advocates while ensuring that Personal Outcomes, CMS, SCDDSN and OCDSN requirements are met.

Specific Duties:

1.Ensures that advocates’ choices are solicited and respected

2.Assists in the decision-making process of the advocates while helping to support them with recognizing outcomes

3.Develops, implements and monitors skills training for residential advocates.

4.Coordinates medical care. Ensures all medical appointments are made and kept; and physicians’ orders and recommendations are followed. Necessary follow-up is completed. Medical visits are well documented. Ensures that staff are properly administering medications and documenting correctly on the MAR.

5.Ensures medication is correct and is in accordance with physicians’ orders. Physicians’ orders are signed very six (6) months.

6.Directly supervises the Direct Support Staff for their location. Responsible for staff work schedules, providing shift coverage and PTO/leave approval. Ensures all Direct Support Staff are in compliance with annual training and PPD questionnaires are completed annually. Completes annual JPA (Job Performance Assessment) on each Direct Support Staff.

7.Edits Direct Support Staff timesheets as needed. Ensures timesheets are correct and have been approved by staff and house manager as required.

8.Supervises the handling of the advocates’ funds according to 200-12-DD policy. Maintains accurate financial records for advocates’ funds. Ensures check registers are submitted when requested from the Finance Office. Board payments are made by the 5th of each month. Conscientious in fiscal management of money budgeted for the CTH.

9.Provides information used to develop advocates’ Residential Support Plans. Monitors Plans monthly for accuracy and effectiveness. Ensures the Plan is scheduled and completed annually. Completes Plan amendments as needed.

10.Interviews new hires for placement in the respective CTH. Conducts disciplinary actions including termination.

11.Responsible for ensuring that any restriction on an advocates’ rights have been approved by the Human Rights Committee.

12.Ensures advocates attend Psych Clinic on a quarterly basis. Responsible for monitorship of any Behavior Management Program (BSP), along with interventions in coordination with behavioral consultants, psychologists, physiatrists and other health care professionals.

13.Maintains good working relationships with parents and primary correspondents. Ensures that families are notified of any change involving their loved one.

14.Assists advocates in exercising their rights.

15.Provides friendship and support to advocates and assists with their problems and concerns as needed. Assists advocates in staying connected with personal contacts. Arrange home visits.

16.Performs related duties as required concerning health, safety and accountability of the advocates.

17.Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: High school diploma or GED. Internet-based diplomas are not acceptable unless they are accredited and recognized by the issuing state. Supervisory experience and at least one year of experience working with people with developmental disabilities. Ability to plan, organize, supervise, plan/follow budgets, set and follow goals and objectives. Knowledge of behavior modification techniques; methods of instruction; curriculum planning for consumers with developmental disabilities. Excellent oral, written and verbal communication skills. Valid driver’s license. Satisfactory criminal background checks including DMV record, SLED, DSS Abuse Registry and if required FBI fingerprints.

Hours of Work: Generally, 8:00am to 4:00pm Monday thru Friday but must be available to cover all shifts including evenings, nights, weekends (Saturdays and Sundays), holidays or as needed or directed due to job need.

Specific Skills or Attributes: Effective written and oral communication skills. Ability to relate to and communicate with the residents, parents, staff, visitors, professional providers to the residents, and the general public.

Physical Abilities Required: Including but not limited to lifting, pushing, pulling, standing, climbing, balancing, crawling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, smelling, communication, writing, reading, driving, (including at night), counting, and running. Physical requirements include very heavy work or lifting with assistance. Visual activity must be accurate enough to write and read small print and to record data. Employee is subject to both indoor and outdoor environments and may be subject to extremes of heat or cold for short periods of time. Employee is subject to noise and hazards including but not limited to the possibilities of physical assault, property destruction and infections. Employee is also subject to wear protective clothing to prevent infections.
