Job Description

Job Summary:
The Surgical Tech supports surgical procedures by maintaining a sterile environment and providing necessary instruments to the surgical team. They work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to ensure patient safety and high-quality care during operative procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Possess and apply knowledge of sterile and aseptic techniques, human anatomy, and surgical procedures to assist in invasive diagnostics and therapeutic interventions.
• Maintain and verify the integrity of surgical instruments and supplies, ensuring proper packaging, sterilization, and expiration dates.
• Monitor the sterile field continuously, identifying and addressing potential contamination or interference issues promptly.
• Assist in patient transports, room turnover, and preparation to facilitate efficient surgical workflows.
• Model professional behavior and stay current with emerging technologies, instrumentation, and equipment relevant to surgery.
• Participate actively in preoperative safety protocols, including Time Out, Briefings, and Debriefings, with effective communication among team members.

Qualifications:

• Completion of a Certified Surgical Technologist program or hold a Licensed Surgical Technologist license in Colorado.
• Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Demonstrated proficiency in sterile techniques, instrumentation, and surgical procedures, with working knowledge aligned to Tier 1 surgical cases.
• Ability to perform physical activities including standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, and assisting with patient movement.
• Strong English language skills for reading, writing, and verbal communication.
• Ability to adapt to fast-paced, high-stress environments, maintaining focus and professionalism.
