Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) - Inpatient Medicine/Surgery

ProTouch Staffing is seeking a dedicated Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) for a full-time contract opportunity with a leading healthcare organization in New York, NY .

Position Overview

The LMSW will provide psychosocial assessments, supportive counseling, discharge planning, and referral coordination for patients in an inpatient medicine/surgery setting. This role requires strong clinical judgment, collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient-centered care.

Job Details

• Schedule: Monday-Friday

• Shift: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

• Hours: 35 hours per week

• Employment Type: Full-Time Contract

• Start Date: ASAP

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments of patients and families.

• Provide supportive therapy and crisis intervention as needed.

• Develop and implement discharge plans to ensure continuity of care.

• Coordinate referrals to community resources, healthcare providers, and support services.

• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, case managers, and other healthcare professionals.

• Advocate for patients and assist with addressing psychosocial barriers to treatment and recovery.

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements.

• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and care planning activities.

Required Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program.

• Current New York State Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) license in good standing.

• Minimum 1 year of LMSW experience required.

• Experience in psychosocial assessment, supportive therapy, discharge planning, and referral management.

• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced acute care environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in an inpatient hospital setting.

• Experience working within medicine/surgery units.

• Familiarity with community resources and discharge planning processes.
