Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

About the Position Registered Respiratory Therapist – Night Shift, Full‑time (36hrs/week, 3×12‑hour shifts). RRT MO licensure required. The role is based at SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital, a Level1 time‑critical diagnosis facility in stroke, trauma and STEMI care. The position offers a $20,000 sign‑on bonus to qualified external candidates and available shift differentials for nights, weekends and additional shifts. Job Summary The respiratory therapist provides comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory care. Responsibilities include oxygen therapy, ventilator management, pulmonary function testing, invasive and non‑invasive procedures, and inter‑departmental collaboration to deliver high‑quality patient care. Responsibilities Administer and assess oxygen, therapeutic gases, aerosolized medication, and CP/IVP therapies in accordance with hospital protocols. Set up, monitor, and troubleshoot ventilators and other respiratory equipment. Perform diagnostic procedures: ABG analysis, pulse oximetry, nitric oxide studies, bronchoscopy, and other pulmonary function tests. Evaluate patient status and respond to changes in vital signs, breath sounds, and therapy tolerance. Respond to critical areas (ER, OR, Code) and support life‑support units. Assist with bronchoscopy, minor cardiopulmonary surgical procedures, and tracheotomy care. Maintain safety and infection‑control standards, including PPE usage and hazardous waste disposal. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, charting, and documentation in a timely manner. Engage with physicians and nurses, providing input on patient care decisions. Support patients of all ages with age‑appropriate care practices. Qualifications Graduate of an AMA‑approved respiratory therapy program (preferred). Registered with the National Board for Respiratory Care. State of Missouri license within 6months of hire. Strong leadership and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to work independently. Capacity to work long hours, stand, walk, and lift moderate weights. Knowledge of protective equipment, hazardous materials, and emergency response procedures. Compensation & Benefits $20,000 sign‑on bonus for qualified external candidates.
