Cytotechnologist - Full Time - Day Shift - Wexford

Company Allegheny Health Network Overview Independently performs routine and special procedures on patient specimens. Essential Responsibilities Microscopically screen gynecologic and non‑gynecologic slides containing cells from all body sites. Meets the minimum screening output standard. Microscopically screens gynecologic slides utilizing imager technology. Prepare and process specimens and assist pathologists, radiologists and clinicians with fine‑needle aspirates, as needed, following departmental policies and safety guidelines. Operate, calibrate, check and maintain instrumentation. Recognize problems with quality control and test procedures and take appropriate action to ensure quality clinical information. Participate in continuing educational programs to stay updated with current and changing technologies. Assist in training other health care providers. Maintain the cleanliness of the work area and adequate supplies for efficient departmental operations. Participate and successfully complete annual proficiency testing. Select specimens that must be submitted for pathologist review, quality control and quality assurance. Perform all other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in an ASCP‑eligible program or a bachelor’s degree and one year of certificate program training. Preferred Qualifications
