Iowa Select Farms Job Description Title: CDL Driver Reports To: Associate Director of Inner Sanctum Transportation Last Revision Date: 12/08/2023 Purpose Of Position To transport pigs within our production system while strictly following animal wellbeing, biosecurity, and safety protocols. This position will make site-to-site internal transports only. Essential Job Functions And Responsibilities Use proper animal handling equipment including but not limited to sort panel, rattle paddle, razz can, etc. Maintain the health of our pigs during transportation. Maintain transportation log reports daily. Gate incoming pigs into the trailer. Unload pigs from trailer. Complete all required documentation. Maintain a positive and professional demeanor. Focus daily on the welfare of animals, not personal issues. Attendance is crucial; be at work on scheduled days and ready to drive by the start time given. Be friendly, positive, helpful, team‑oriented, and respectful to co‑workers and management team. Flexibility in hours during health and staffing challenges is required. All other activities assigned by supervisor. Company Expectations Adhere to Iowa Select Farms bio‑security policy at all times, reporting any violations or concerns to management team. Compliance with Iowa Select Farms safety policies and procedures, including continuous education to maintain a safe work environment. Follow Iowa Select Farms animal wellbeing policy at all times and partner with the Production Well‑being team in a timely manner if an incident occurs. The environment of this position will change daily pending weekly schedule. This position will have duties in all facilities of Iowa Select Farms, so employees will need to be comfortable working in and being exposed to all facility environments. This position may require some tasks to be performed in extreme outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibrations. This position will require the ability to sit for long periods of time while driving to and from sites. Physicality Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear. Ability to read and write. The employee must be able to continuously repeat necessary movements such as bending, lifting and different hand movements as needed to complete tasks. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and to climb over gates 48 inches in height. Position Type / Expected Hours of Work This is a full‑time position that will typically require at least 40 hours a week. Additional availability may be required during staffing challenges. Occasional evening hours and weekend work may be required as the job duties demand. Travel Local travel will be required for this position through the utilization of a company vehicle. Education, Experience And Other Qualifications Bilingual: Not Required Must have a valid Class A CDL license. Must have a clean driving record. Previous experience preferred but not required.
