Civil Engineer PE

Role Overview: As a Licensed Civil Engineer at CLD Engineering, you will be responsible for the design, permitting, and management of diverse land development and infrastructure projects. This role requires a high level of technical proficiency and the ability to act as a lead designer or project manager, ensuring projects from residential developments to industrial sites are delivered on time and in compliance with regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities: Engineering Design: Lead the design and preparation of construction plans for site layout, grading, drainage, and erosion control. Infrastructure Systems: Design essential utility systems, including stormwater treatment, water and sewer lines, pump stations, force mains, and roadway alignments. Permitting & Approvals: Coordinate project submittals and interface directly with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies to facilitate approvals and obtain necessary construction permits. Technical Reporting: Produce detailed technical evaluations, design reports, and professional correspondence in a clear, technical writing format. Project Leadership: Provide guidance and technical support to junior engineers and designers while reporting progress directly to senior project management. Client Management: Communicate directly with clients to provide weekly project updates and ensure design goals are met. Required Qualifications: Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution. Licensure: Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license (current licensure in North Carolina, South Carolina, or Tennessee is preferred given the firm’s primary service areas). Experience: Proven background in Land Development design and permitting. Software Proficient: Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office is required. Preferred Tools: Experience with Hydraflow Storm Sewer, Hydrograph, and WaterCAD is highly desirable. Core Competencies Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple project deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced team environment. Deep understanding of stormwater conveyance and treatment regulations.
