Processes and sterilizes surgical and hospital instruments and equipment to ensure safety and readiness for medical procedures. Assists in assembling instrument sets and distributing supplies to supporting clinical teams. Responsibilities:
- Decontaminate and process surgical instruments, ensuring proper cleaning and recording of instrument counts.
- Sterilize instruments, trays, and basins using appropriate exposure and drying times.
- Prepare instruments for immediate use sterilization when necessary.
- Maintain cleanliness of the department environment, including wiping counters, sinks, and sterilizer surfaces regularly.
- Perform diagnostic testing on sterilizing equipment, including biological indicators and cycle evaluations.
- Assist in room turnover, terminal cleaning, and supply picking for upcoming procedures.
- Hold a high school diploma or GED; associate's or technical degree preferred.
- Possess a Sterile Processing Technician certification.
- Demonstrate experience in decontamination, sterilization, and processing of surgical instruments.
- Exhibit strong attention to detail and the ability to evaluate instrument safety and function.
- Ability to work under supervision and follow strict infection control protocols.
