Job Description

Job Summary:
Processes and sterilizes surgical and hospital instruments and equipment to ensure safety and readiness for medical procedures. Assists in assembling instrument sets and distributing supplies to supporting clinical teams.

Responsibilities:

• Decontaminate and process surgical instruments, ensuring proper cleaning and recording of instrument counts.
• Sterilize instruments, trays, and basins using appropriate exposure and drying times.
• Prepare instruments for immediate use sterilization when necessary.
• Maintain cleanliness of the department environment, including wiping counters, sinks, and sterilizer surfaces regularly.
• Perform diagnostic testing on sterilizing equipment, including biological indicators and cycle evaluations.
• Assist in room turnover, terminal cleaning, and supply picking for upcoming procedures.

Qualifications:

• Hold a high school diploma or GED; associate's or technical degree preferred.
• Possess a Sterile Processing Technician certification.
• Demonstrate experience in decontamination, sterilization, and processing of surgical instruments.
• Exhibit strong attention to detail and the ability to evaluate instrument safety and function.
• Ability to work under supervision and follow strict infection control protocols.
