Our podiatry office is looking for an experienced, dependable, and patient-focused  Medical Front Desk / Billing and Insurance Specialist to join our team.

We are interested in someone who understands that the front desk is much more than answering phones and checking patients in. The ideal candidate will have strong medical-office experience, understand insurance and billing, communicate confidently with patients, and be able to manage the front office with a high level of independence. The right candidate is also a team player with excellent customer service skills, is compassionate towards our patients and has a positive attitude.

The Ideal Candidate

Our ideal candidate will have:

• Previous  medical front-desk experience
• Experience working in a  podiatry office is preferred but not necessary
• Strong knowledge of  health insurance and insurance verification
• Experience with patient eligibility, benefits, copays, deductibles, coinsurance, and out-of-pocket responsibilities
• Experience collecting patient balances and explaining financial responsibilities to patients
• Understanding of medical billing and claims
• Experience working with  Medicare and commercial insurance
• Experience with referrals, authorizations, and obtaining necessary documentation
• Excellent telephone and patient communication skills
• Strong computer skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Professional, friendly, and compassionate personality
• Strong attendance and reliability

Preferred Qualifications

The following knowledge is a  major plus :

• Bilingual in English and Spanish
• Previous experience in a  podiatry practice
• Experience with  NextGen
• Previous medical billing experience
• Experience understanding insurance claims
• Experience looking up insurance benefits on Availity
• Experience with DME billing or podiatry-related billing
• Experience with referrals and prior authorizations and surgery insurance verification

Responsibilities

The Medical Front Desk / Billing and Insurance Specialist will be responsible for a variety of front-office and administrative duties, including:

• Greeting and assisting patients in a professional and friendly manner
• Answering and managing incoming telephone calls
• Scheduling and confirming appointments
• Checking patients in and out
• Verifying insurance eligibility and benefits
• Reviewing patient financial responsibilities
• Collecting copays, deductibles, coinsurance, and outstanding balances
• Answering insurance and billing questions patients' may have
• Checking faxes for referrals and authorizations
• Communicating with insurance companies when necessary
• Assisting with DME paperwork and insurance requirements
• Providing excellent customer service to every patient

Schedule

Depending on patient load, our hours range between 30-37 hours per week, Monday–Thursday 8:30-5, Friday 8-1.
