International Trade Associate or Counsel (Export Controls)

Overview Counseling clients with respect to U.S. export controls, with a particular emphasis on the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Providing regulatory and compliance guidance, including jurisdiction and classification analysis (Commodity Jurisdiction and CCATS requests), and obtaining Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) and Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC) export licenses, while analyzing applicability of license exceptions and exemptions. Developing international trade compliance programs based on risk analysis, conducting and supervising party screening and due diligence, and providing export controls compliance training. Representing clients in voluntary self-disclosures, M&A-related trade compliance diligence, internal investigations and audits related to export control concerns, and in responding to regulatory inquiries such as requests for information and subpoenas. Experience with EU and UK export controls regimes, encryption and emerging technologies, the impact of U.S. export controls on non-US companies, economic sanctions, outbound investment, and CFIUS are considered advantageous. #J-18808-Ljbffr Crowell & Moring LLP
