About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Required (must have license in hand for Auto Offer) Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: AK RN license in hand for Auto Offer Description: PCU RN license pending is acceptable. Candidates must complete RN license application within 48 hours of signing, including submitting fingerprints and application fee. This is a stepdown unit from ICU with a wide variety of patient populations serving multiple disciplines. A Co-Care/Virtual Nursing Model is utilized. For every patient, there is one bedside RN, a Virtual RN, and one CNA. Bedside RN patient ratio is 1:4, and CNA patient ratio is 1:6. The virtual nurse works remotely and assists with admission, discharge, rounding, education, plans of care, and safety rounds. Thirty percent of the patient population is cardiac in nature, including patients with CHF, MI, s/p TAVR, MVR, pacemaker patients, and cardiac arrhythmias. The unit also cares for respiratory patients, including those with COVID, FLU, COPD, and asthma exacerbations. Patients requiring high flow NC and BIPAP are also managed. The unit accommodates overflow for neuro and renal patients, as well as complicated medical surgical patients requiring higher levels of monitoring. The staffing model is supported by interdisciplinary teams, including IV therapy, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, social services, and pharmacy. Virtual nursing supports higher quality care through real-time collaboration with bedside nursing. Travelers must be willing to work during major holidays, and time off requests are evaluated on an individual basis. All candidates will float to accommodate facility needs. References are required covering at least one year of experience.
