Insurance Billing/Collection Assistant III (Hybrid) - Physicians Billing Service

Position Summary Performs advanced billing and collection activities. Acts as Lead IBC Assistant. Makes collection calls, verifies accuracy and completeness of claims, contacts insurance companies and collection agencies regarding expediting payments from various payers for physician’s services. Handles discounts, adjustments and charge corrections. Primary Duties & Responsibilities Act as a Lead IBC Assistant; may train and provide guidance to other IBC Assistants. Perform collection follow‑up duties on specific financial classifications such as commercial insurance, self‑pay, Medicare and Medicaid claims. Handle discounts, adjustments, and charge corrections. Makes collection calls to insurance companies and patients to ensure timely payment of claims. Reviews remittance advises for rejection and accuracy of payment amounts. Verify accuracy and completeness of charge tickets, monitoring attachments for claims to obtain maximum reimbursements. Contact insurance companies regarding posting payments and collection agencies regarding payment reports. Respond to questions and requests from insurance companies. Support customer service unit in answering billing and collection questions. Act as back‑up support for Accounts Receivable staff during peak times, vacations, and illnesses. Working Conditions Job location: Normal office environment. Physical effort: Typically sitting at a desk or table; repetitive wrist, hand, or finger movements (PC typing). Equipment: Office equipment. Required Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent, or a combination of education and/or experience. Certifications/Professional Licenses: No specific certification or professional license required. Work Experience: Billing or insurance, 3 years. Skills: Not applicable. Salary Range Grade C08‑H: $20.57 – $30.84 hourly (individual rates within the range will be determined by qualifications, performance, equity, market rates, and department budget).
