Staff Supplier Manufacturing Engineer, Machining

Staff-level supplier manufacturing engineer responsible for ensuring suppliers meet quality, service, delivery, and cost requirements at a medical device company. Drives continuous improvement across supplier operations, manages new product introductions, and executes projects to enhance quality, reduce costs, and mitigate risk.

Responsibilities

• Develop manufacturing best practices with suppliers for new product introduction components
• Execute cost reduction, capacity improvement, and risk mitigation initiatives across supplier base
• Manage supplier changes including process changes, equipment qualification, and production optimization
• Drive supplier variances to closure through root cause analysis and corrective action implementation
• Create supplier landscapes, ramp readiness plans, and provide supply base health metrics to management

Requirements

• Minimum 10 years related experience with BS Engineering degree; or 8 years with MS; or 5 years with PhD
• Proven track record implementing Lean, Six Sigma, and SPC programs at suppliers
• Minimum 5 years engineering experience in machining, especially medical device components
• Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing processes and ability to evaluate supplier technical and business capabilities
• Proficiency with statistical analysis software, mechanical drawings (GD&T), CAM software, and metrology techniques
• Excellent project management, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Experience with superalloy machining and secondary processes like cleaning, passivation, brazing, heat treating
