Orthopedic Physical Therapist

Position Overview

This role is for an Orthopedic Physical Therapist in an outpatient clinic setting. The incumbent will be responsible for providing assessments, developing treatment plans, and implementing effective therapeutic interventions for a diverse patient population including adolescents and adults.

Key Responsibilities

• Patient Assessments: Conduct evaluations in accordance with department protocols within 48 hours of initiation. Set appropriate goals based on the patient's prior level of function.
• Treatment Implementation: Provide effective treatment following departmental guidelines, with ongoing assessment and modification of goals as needed.
• Patient and Family Education: Demonstrate a variety of teaching methods suitable for the patient's understanding, ensuring comprehensive education regarding all aspects of care and safety.
• Documentation: Ensure all documentation complies with departmental policies, is completed in a timely manner, and reflects all interventions and ongoing assessments.
• Communication and Collaboration: Communicate treatment plans and patient status effectively with the team and medical doctors, participating in team conferences and addressing any patient concerns promptly.
• Supervision and Delegation: Effectively delegate tasks to support staff and supervise students, ensuring that all interactions meet professional standards.
• Time Management: Manage time and productivity to meet departmental standards, adjusting schedules as necessary to maintain workflow.
• Other Duties: Perform related duties as assigned in a professional manner.

Requirements

• Valid BLS certification and California Physical Therapy license are required.
• Experience with orthopedic patients is essential.
• Knowledge of patient safety and the principles of growth and development over a lifespan.
• Ability to work with young adults and adolescents, as pediatric cases are limited.

Work Schedule

The position operates Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, with no call or weekend requirements. Employees are expected to work during two of the three major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's), with scheduling at the discretion of management.
