Senior Director, EE Sourcing and Materials

As part of the Sonos team, you’ll collaborate with people of all styles, skill sets, and backgrounds to realize our vision while fostering a community where everyone feels included and empowered to do the best work of their lives.The Sr. Director, EE Sourcing & Materials will lead Sonos' electronics component sourcing strategy and global materials management organization, bringing two critical supply chain functions under a unified leadership role.This role owns the end-to-end lifecycle of electronic components — from strategic sourcing and supplier relationships through global material planning, availability, and end-of-production management — ensuring Sonos has the right components, at the right cost, in the right place, at the right time to support NPI programs and mass production.The successful candidate will have deep technical fluency in electronic components and sub-systems, a proven track record of building and leading global teams, and the executive presence to represent supply chain interests in cross-functional and supplier-facing settings.This role can be based in Boston, Mass or with the flexibility to work remotely in North America.Travel to Sonos office locations and travel both domestically and internationally will be a requirement to effectively manage both internal business relationships and our global supplier partners. What You'll DoSourcing Strategy & Supplier ManagementLead a global team of GSM’s and Component Engineering including the Director EE Sourcing to evolve Sonos' global electronics sourcing strategy, building consensus across Product Design, Engineering, Business Operations, and Finance to achieve sustained competitive advantage in cost, quality, and supply flexibility.Direct the research and evaluation of electronic components and sub-systems against the Sonos product roadmap, marketing, and long-range development requirements.Develop, implement and maintain a commodity strategy that aligns partner roadmaps with Sonos product offerings while establishing and maintaining a competitive advantage, supplier diversification, capacity/supply assurance and life cycle managementPartner with Product Design and Engineering leadership to review design specs and drive technical sourcing decisions that meet volume, quality, flexibility, and cost targets.Lead executive-level supplier engagements, including commercial term negotiations, technical roadmap reviews, price and capacity negotiations, and contract negotiations.Lead technical and commercial discussions across engineering, operations and finance. Oversee "should cost" modeling to enable early COGS estimation and value engineering initiatives that reduce product cost and BOM risk.EE BOM ownership and management through the product lifecycle. Work closely with Sonos FPA and Legal teams to architect and manage strategic buys or material purchases as necessary to support ongoing business needs. Direct supplier performance reviews, factory audits, and supplier risk assessments across the electronics supply base.Maintain a forward view of the electronics component industry — new technologies, supplier capacity, R&D investment, M&A activity, and competitive dynamics — and translate this into actionable sourcing strategy.Global Materials ManagementLead a global team of Material Planning Managers, including the Director or Materials Management, supporting all NPI builds and mass production programs.Manage a global materials management process and the systems/tools needed to provide real-time visibility into material availability, inventory liability, end-of-production status, and excess & obsolete (E&O) exposure.Partner with Contract Manufacturers and Distribution Partners, to blend Sonos' internal materials capability with CM scale, in support of the global manufacturing footprint.Establish component buffer strategies and best practices with CMs, distributors, sourcing, and finance to optimize ordering and buffering while minimizing factory supply risk.Collaborate at an executive level with Sourcing, Engineering, Business Operations, and Factory Operations to optimize supply-to-product allocation and maximize Clear-to-Build (CTB) status across the CM network.Own end-of-production planning for legacy products, minimizing excess material exposure at CMs and component suppliers.Develop the materials organization into a center of excellence for supply-demand management, directly enabling Sonos' forecasted revenue and growth goals.Leadership & Cross-Functional ExecutionLead a cross-functional sourcing and materials process spanning Product Development, Engineering, Quality, Sourcing, and Business Operations.Build, mentor, and empower a global, multi-site team, fostering a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.Represent EE Sourcing & Materials in executive-level planning and decision-making, balancing business and technical objectives to guide sound, strategic decisions.What You'll NeedBasic QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field from an accredited university (MBA preferred).10+ years of combined experience across Electronics Sourcing, Materials Management, and/or Supply Chain, including significant experience in the electronic component industry, suppliers, distributors, and manufacturer's representatives.5+ years in a senior leadership role (Director/Sr Director) directly managing a global team of 10-20 individuals.Demonstrated ability to apply analytical and problem-solving techniques to sourcing and materials challenges (e.g., should-cost modeling, buffer strategy design).Proven track record building and cultivating relationships with team members, internal stakeholders, and suppliers.Excellent English communication and executive presentation skills.Ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural, global business environment, and to balance business and technical objectives in decision-making.Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally, up to 25% of the time.Preferred Qualifications10+ years of experience in high-tech or a similar industry.Bi-lingual in English and MandarinExperience with enterprise software systems such as SAP, Arena, e2OpenKnowledge and experience utilizing AI to enhance and support our ways of working.Proficiency with Power BI, Google Suite, Excel, or similar analytical/reporting tools.Natural leadership style that influences through subject-matter expertise and credibility rather than organizational authority alone.Research shows that some candidates may not apply for roles if they don't meet all the criteria. We apply geographic pay differentials based on the cost of labor in the market.
