Bilingual Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) Coordinator

Standing Together to End Sexual Assault (STESA) seeks an individual to contribute positively to a supportive and collaborative team. The SART coordinator provides support, information, referral, and advocacy services to sexual assault survivors and their significant others, including family and friends. The ideal candidate communicates clearly and compassionately to respond to the client’s immediate needs. The SART coordinator is an integral part of a multidisciplinary team that unites its members to provide supportive and trauma-informed services to survivors of sexual assault and develop policies to improve a coordinated care system. This position interfaces with law enforcement, healthcare personnel, and community partners with diplomacy and tact while advocating for clients’ needs. The ideal candidate has a working knowledge of the issues related to sexual assault and is willing to learn about trauma-informed practices to support survivors of sexual assault in their healing. CLASSIFICATION $25.00 per hour, full-time and non-exempt BENEFITS Healthcare insurance, Vacation, Sick leave, and SIMPLE IRA retirement plan EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Take a lead role in the planning and coordinating Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) efforts in the community to improve the quality of response to and services for sexual assault survivors. Provide initial in-person response to SART clients during on-call shift coverage. Provide follow-up services to SART clients, including in-person, over-the-phone, or via telehealth contact, accompaniment, and advocacy services. Maintain SART program client files and ensure funder compliance with services. Participate in monthly SART case management meetings and protocol meetings. Provide appropriate crisis counseling, follow-up, advocacy, and accompaniment services to Crisis Intervention Program clients through an empowerment model. Provide long-term counseling to Spanish-speaking clients as needed. Provide on-call coverage for open shifts and serve as staff backup to the 24-hour hotline. Perform the duties of hotline coordination, volunteer management, and client case management during on-call shifts. Maintain a positive working relationship with law enforcement, medical personnel, and other community professionals to ensure the successful delivery of services to clients. With the Crisis Intervention Coordinating staff, provide in-service training to community agencies on issues related to sexual assault. Prepare statistical data from services provided for reports needed by funding sources. Perform other duties as required to advance the goals of STESA. QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS BA required, preferably in psychology, sociology, social work, or other humanities-related fields. Bilingual in English and Spanish is required. Excellent public speaking and written communication skills. Experience in facilitating trainings and workshops. Understand the issues pertinent to marginalized communities. Experience in working effectively with people of diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Ability to work effectively with professionals who interface with survivors of sexual assault and their significant others Ability to communicate effectively with these persons in person, via telehealth, or over the telephone. Accessible by telephone and live within an area to provide a 30-minute response time to Santa Barbara. Willingness and ability to work unusual and varied hours. Ability to drive safely and in compliance with all applicable laws while on STESA business.
