Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cath Lab position requiring 2+ years of coronary, structural heart, complex PCI and peripheral experience.

Details

• Work in a Cardiac Cath Lab with 2 cath labs and 2 hybrid peripheral/OR rooms
• Patient population includes coronary artery disease, STEMI, cardiogenic shock, complex total occlusions, valvular disease, renal disease, carotid stenosis, limb salvage, peripheral stenosis, thrombosis disease, Impella and LVAD insertions
• 1:1 patient ratio
• 12-hour variable shifts, rotating 12-hour nights with 10-hour days, 36 hours per week
• Q4 weekend rotation required
• On-call required 1-2 days per week from 1630-0600 and every 4th weekend from Friday 1630 to Monday 0600
• No floating required
• Charge nurse coverage M-F 0600-1630
• Uses Epic (required) and Epic Cupid (preferred) charting systems, along with Alaris and Omnicell

Requirements

• Active RN license (SD or Compact) currently in hand
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of Cath Lab experience required, including coronary, structural heart, complex PCI and peripheral experience
• Completion of an accredited nursing education program required
• Strong critical patient assessment skills required
• Experience with vasoactive and sedation drug administration, sterile technique, air management, laser and lithotripsy atherectomy, and cardiac cath lab and peripheral IV skills required
• Experience with IABP, Impella, Rotoblator, and Penumbra devices required
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Previous permanent staff must wait 1 full year before returning as a traveler

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care in a fast-paced cardiac cath lab setting handling complex cardiac and peripheral procedures
• 4-day facility and unit orientation (10-hour shifts)
• Holiday coverage expected approximately once per assignment
• Time off requests must be approved through the manager
• Procedural scrubs provided
• Free parking available
• Must live 100 miles from the facility, and local candidates are not accepted
• Facility is known to be very traveler-friendly and frequently renews travel assignments
