The state records center supervisor is responsible for:

• Supervision for the operations of the State Records Center. Develops and maintains productive collaborative work relationships with internal and external state agency officials and the public.
• Providing routine consultative services by assessing and responding to client needs with regards to the preparation and transfer of records to the state records center.
• Supervising the work of others by coordinating work assignments and establishing employee expectations through the development of work plans.
• Ensuring the recruitment, development, and retention of a diverse workforce.
• Working alongside staff to perform accessioning, reference and disposition duties.
• Conducting advanced and coordinative work involving the efficient and economical storage of records focusing on security, organization, and retrieval of records.
• Delivering workshops to state officials, as assigned.
• Manages vehicle logs and maintenance.
• Serves as a backup building liaison to the Department of Administration's Facility Management Division, Work Control Center, State Capitol Police, or other emergency services agencies.
• Ensuring that facilities issues are addressed in a timely manner.
• Serves on the division's disaster response team.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to: working with agency personnel, officials, and the public; and work with both internal and external organizations to facilitate the goals of the State Archives. Using techniques, principles, and procedures of records management particularly in relation to the storage, retention, retrieval, and disposition of records; of the operations and functions of state government; of office management; of state and federal laws and rules and regulations pertaining to the maintenance, security, and retention of records.

Candidates who possess the following are preferred:

• Considerable knowledge of program objectives and standards in the areas of confidentiality, and state laws governing records management.
• Knowledge of preserving confidentiality and security of records and materials; and ensures full compliance with confidentiality and security practices within the work unit.
• Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in applying, and interpreting policies and procedures.
• Ability to develop plans to accomplish work operations, objectives, goals and policies; ability to arrange and assign the work of others to best use manpower and resources.
• Ability to establish work rules and acceptable levels of quality and quantity of work; reviews work and measures performance of others, and develops individuals competencies.

Weekly schedule for position (required): Monday – Friday, 9:15 am – 5:45 pm

• Ability to conduct a high degree of physical labor for extended periods, including the ability to lift boxes weighing as much as 50 lbs.
• Employee must possess and maintain a valid N.C. driver's license with acceptable driving record. Must have or obtain safety training on equipment, as required

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience, including one year as a lead worker; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
