Veterinary Assistant

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Assisting veterinarians in providing care to animals
• Handling and restraining animals during examinations and procedures
• Administering medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians
• Preparing and maintaining examination rooms and surgical areas
• Cleaning and sterilizing equipment and instruments
• Monitoring the health and well-being of animals in the clinic or hospital
• Assisting with diagnostic tests, such as blood work and x-rays
• Providing basic grooming services, nail trimming

Skills:

• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and veterinary staff
• Knowledge of animal behavior and handling techniques
• Ability to follow instructions and work well in a team environment
• Attention to detail in maintaining accurate records and documentation
• Physical stamina to handle animals of various sizes and lift heavy objects if necessary
• Compassion for animals and their well-being
