Registered Nurse: Hendee House - 7074

Job Overview Registered Nurse – Part‑time (4 hours/week) – Flexible schedule – Program/Location: Hendee House, Coventry, CT. The program is a 6‑bed residential setting for men with severe mental illness discharged from long‑term hospitalization. The role provides direct client services within a 24/7 residential setting, supports skill development and crisis intervention, documents care, and participates in medication, testing, and group interventions. Responsibilities Provides direct services to clients in the 24/7 residential setting. Demonstrates an understanding of treatment of substance use and co‑occurring disorders. Intervenes in client differences or conflicts to maintain a positive milieu. Shows awareness of importance of family and natural support connections. Builds trust and supports competencies through active engagement. Teaches and supports learning of a broad range of skills including coping skills, ADLs, psycho‑education, and linkage to community resources. Transports clients within the program as needed. Documents interventions, behavior incidents, observations, and assessments objectively and professionally. Provides integrated behavioral health and medical treatment planning and comprehensive care management. Maintains knowledge of current theories and research regarding treatment of individuals with complex behavioral health and medical issues. Supervises provision of laboratory testing on‑site and off‑site per policy. Develops and leads individual and group treatment and psycho‑educational groups. Provides crisis assessment and intervention. Monitors medications of all residents per the adult residential medication policy. Teaches residents in nutrition, meal prep, hygiene, laundry, banking, budgeting, and basic home care skills. Assists/Manages administrative functions as directed by supervisor. Performs additional duties as required. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing and RN licensure. Experience with patients with substance use and mental health disorders in a managed care environment. RN license to practice in State of CT. CPR & First Aid Certification required or obtained within 90 days of employment. Preferred Bachelor’s or better in Nursing. Additional technical or other training.
