Anticipated Special Education Teacher - Enderly Heights Elementary
The Special Education Teacher provides specially designed instruction to students in early elementary grades (PreK-1) with identified disabilities. This role focuses on supporting students' academic, social-emotional, and developmental needs in alignment with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Depending on student needs, this position may also include teaching in a self-contained classroom setting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Provide direct instruction in literacy, math, and foundational developmental skills using evidence-based practices.
- Adapt and modify curriculum and instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
- Collect and analyze data to track student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to support student success.
- Manage classroom behavior using positive behavioral interventions and supports.
- Create a structured, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
- Participate in IEP meetings, eligibility meetings, and other required conferences.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation and records.
Additional Responsibilities (Self-Contained Classroom):
- Provide comprehensive instruction across content areas for students with more intensive needs.
- Design and implement individualized schedules, routines, and supports.
- Coordinate closely with paraprofessionals and support staff to ensure effective service delivery.
- Address functional, communication, and life skills as appropriate.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Valid state teaching license with endorsement in Special Education.
- Knowledge of early childhood development and special education best practices.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience working with young children with diverse learning needs preferred.
