Position Information Posting Number: 260036 Job Title: Part‑Time Electrician Position Type: Classified, Part‑Time Classification: Electrician Location: Main Campus Anticipated Start Date: Upon Hire Salary/Wage: Hourly (Classified Salary Level 14) Salary/Wage Range: $27.53 – $40.38 per hour Salary/Compensation Statement: Our application is used to determine your initial salary placement for selected candidates. All employment and education history will be considered. Part‑Time Benefits may be available for qualified employees. Working Schedule: Normal working hours are 7:00 am – 3:30 pm Monday‑Friday. Schedules may vary with hours increasing during peak periods up to 40 hours per week, up to 1039 hours in a 12‑month period. Experience: Three (3) years of journey‑level experience in electronic hardware and access control, with at least two (2) years in maintenance, new construction, and electrical troubleshooting. Licensure or Certification: Oregon General Journeyman Electrician License upon hire; current and valid Oregon Driver’s license or ability to obtain one by date of hire. Conditions of Employment: Successful applicants must complete a criminal background check. Infractions are evaluated on a case‑by‑case basis. Must work and reside in Oregon at the time their work is being performed. Preferred Qualifications Experience: Extensive journey‑level experience; experience in maintenance, new construction, access control, electrical hardware, and electrical troubleshooting in a large commercial setting or in a public or higher‑education institution. Position Purpose Responsible for journey‑level performance in installing, maintaining, repairing, and removing electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures and door hardware in college facilities. Essential Functions Analyze and troubleshoot problems with electrical systems, including all phases of electrical installation and repair; diagnose causes of outages. Install, modify, troubleshoot, clean, and repair elements of the power distribution system. Repair, modify, install, maintain and remove electrical systems associated with plumbing fixtures, fans, pumps, motors, clocks, fire alarms, cooling towers, chillers, kitchen equipment, appliances, heating water systems, automatic door opener hardware, overhead doors, hoists, HVAC, lighting, sprinkler controls, communication systems, renewable energy systems, heaters, lab equipment, welders, power outlets, standby generators, and other mechanical systems. Maintain and repair maintenance equipment such as portable generators, battery‑operated equipment, and cordless hand tools. Assist other Facilities Management & Planning trades staff and contractors as an effective team member. Process work orders on a computer, tablet, or smartphone using maintenance management software. Complete all work in accordance with all code and regulatory compliance and the college’s best electrical practices. Follow Oregon OSHA work practices and the college’s lockout‑tagout procedures to ensure a safe and healthy work environment. Contribute to sustainability by suggesting and selecting energy‑efficient equipment and other resource‑conserving steps. Problem‑solve and manage sensitive information with appropriate awareness of FERPA standards; maintain confidentiality. Other duties as assigned. Supervision Statement Works under the general direction of the Lead Electrician. The Lead Electrician schedules, assigns, inspects, and is available to answer questions or troubleshoot problems daily. After a brief orientation period, work is performed independently, with periodic quality, quantity, and safety reviews. Physical Demands/Working Environment Requires moving equipment up to 50 pounds, working on ladders over 12 feet, kneeling, bending, pushing and pulling objects up to 50 pounds, standing with hands raised above shoulder level, working at heights over 50 feet, and performing duties in adverse weather conditions. Work safely. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of and Skill in: Local and national electrical codes and standard electrical procedures. Operation of all electrical tools and test equipment used in electrical installation and repair. Maintenance of medium voltage systems. Applying occupational safety precautions and practices. OSHA regulations pertaining to electrical work, maintenance, construction; maintaining and repairing renewable energy systems. Ability to: Read, understand and follow design drawings, wiring diagrams, technical instructions, work orders, and other detailed instructions. Work independently with minimal supervision. Communicate effectively. Operate all power and hand tools and equipment, including forklifts, boom and scissor lifts, trucks, vans, computers, tablets, smartphones, printers, fax machines, telephones, and other related tools. Work collaboratively with department co‑workers, supervisors, “customers” (employees and students), and others. Cultivate a respectful, inclusive, and accessible working and learning environment.
