Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center is seeking a BC/BE Cardiologist in the Section of Cardiovascular Medicine and the Heart and Vascular Center. Join the academic practice of 40 cardiologists who are an well‑established, dedicated, and compassionate team of providers at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) in Lebanon, NH, one of the nation’s leading innovators in clinical care and national healthcare policy.

This is a full‑time position at our academic center with responsibilities in both inpatient and outpatient care as well as noninvasive test interpretation for qualified candidates. The successful candidate will receive a faculty appointment at Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth commensurate with experience. Active engagement in clinical and/or outcomes research is strongly encouraged. A passion for teaching medical students, residents, and fellows is essential.

Qualifications

• Advanced clinical degree (MD or DO)
• Postgraduate training in residency program

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical and related administrative services and actively participate in and contribute to DHC’s academic endeavors
• Abide by the Dartmouth Health Bylaws for the Professional Staff and Code of Conduct
• Review records and detailed medical history from patient(s)
• Determine appropriate diagnosis (diagnoses) and treatment plan(s)
• Determine and order appropriate screening and diagnostic tests and studies
• Obtain informed consent for treatment diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and studies
• Interpret and evaluate test and study results
• Prescribe medications, treatments, and medical devices in accordance within specialty scope of practice and applicable rules and regulations
• Initiate referrals to other providers as necessary
• Initiate admission/discharge of patients, if applicable
• Provide consultation, education, and counseling regarding the management of acute and chronic illnesses and injuries; encourage behavioral change and assist with self‑management skills to improve overall health, within specialty scope of practice
• Complete appropriate documentation in a timely manner
• Provide patient and family‑centered care
• Ensure the patient’s right to privacy, confidentiality and informed consent
• Supervise APP’s as directed
• Participate in continuing medical education (CME)
• Participate in quality and patient safety initiatives
• Participate in academic responsibilities assigned by the Department Chair or designee, to include, but are not limited to:
  • Leading small group resident conferences
  • Training of residents
  • Teaching medical and other health professional students
  • Participating in clinical trials or other sponsored research
  • Any other Geisel obligations (if any)
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Licensure/Certifications

• Current New Hampshire Medical License
• Current or eligible for ABMS Board Certification (to be obtained within 5 years)
• Active hospital staff membership
