Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a related field, Adapted Physical Education (APE) certification, and 1+ years Adaptive PE Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Make a difference in middle school students’ lives by providing essential Adaptive Physical Education services across a dynamic district. In this part-time onsite position supporting several campuses, you’ll work hands-on with students needing tailored physical education, offering both direct instruction and consultation alongside educational teams. This role, based in the Springfield, MA area, offers a varied and rewarding schedule throughout the 2026/2027 school year.
Desired Qualifications:
- Holds an active Adaptive PE certification or licensure (as applicable)
- Demonstrated experience supporting students with disabilities, ideally in a middle school setting
- Proven ability to collaborate with teachers, therapists, and school staff
- Comfortable providing both hands-on and consultative services
- Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills
- Ability to navigate between sites with reliable transportation
- Must pass required drug screening, fingerprinting, and CORI/background checks
- Punctuality and dependability required, with protocol for notifying absence
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver adaptive physical education instruction to middle school students in need of specialized services
- Travel between multiple district campuses to meet student and program requirements
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to develop and implement appropriate adaptive PE plans
- Maintain timely and accurate records related to student progress and services provided
- Offer consultative support to staff, supporting a positive and inclusive physical education environment
