Resident Advocate

Position Summary Provide oversight to shelter guests and complete necessary paperwork, attend to the immediate needs of the guests, and encourage safe and harmonious shelter atmosphere. Assist with menu planning. Supervise common areas, dorms, lounges, clothing closet, and laundry room. De‑escalate conflict and manage crises as necessary, excellent verbal and written communication. Perform daily resident/security check on guests, rooms, and exterior of building. General Office duties: answering the phone, filing, typing, record keeping, recording shift summary. Attend all trainings and staff meetings as directed. Cleaning and janitorial work as required including laundry as needed. Keep dryer vents clear of dust and lint. Assist deep cleaning of the kitchen. In absence of cook, perform kitchen duties. Must remain on duty until replacement arrives. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education / Experience High School Diploma / GED, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Skills, Knowledge & Abilities Maintain client confidentiality. Computer Skills Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365. Working knowledge of TEAMS and SharePoint. Certificates and Licenses Must have and maintain a current valid driver’s license and pass the Salvation Army Motor Vehicle Record check (MVR). Vesting starts after three years of employment, 100% vested after five years of employment. The accrual rate is based upon years of service and approved hours worked. You will receive up to 2 personal days per year based on date of hire. Birthday off with pay.
