Test Analyst

This is a 12-month remote contract role with the possibility of conversion to a permanent position based on performance and business requirements.

Position Overview

As a Test Analyst, you will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality software products. Your responsibilities include designing, executing, and analysing tests, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and contributing to continuous improvements in the software development, support, and testing processes.

Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive test plans and strategies based on project specifications and requirements.
• Collaborate with project stakeholders to understand objectives and acceptance criteria.

• Create detailed and structured test cases and scripts covering functional, regression, integration, and system testing.
• Execute manual and automated test cases, identify issues, and document defects.
• Prepare documentation for features tested.

• Log, prioritise, and track software defects.
• Work closely with the Director of Support and developers to ensure timely defect resolution.

• Develop and maintain automated test scripts to improve coverage and efficiency.
• Utilize automation tools such as Ghost Inspector or Selenium.
• Stay updated on best practices and new testing tools.

• Work with cross-functional teams including developers and product managers to clarify requirements and resolve issues.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and contribute throughout the development lifecycle.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Defect Detection Rate (DDR)
• Formula: Number of defects found before release / Total number of defects found and missed in feature testing.
• Goal: Measures the testing team's efficiency in identifying defects during the testing phase.

• Testing Cycle Timeline (Estimated vs Actuals)
• Formula: Completion of testing within the allocated testing block of time aligned with the product development cycle.
• Goal: Indicates testing efficiency by measuring the time taken to complete a full testing cycle.

• Test Automation Coverage
• Formula: Ratio of manual testing vs. automated testing.
• Goal: Increase end-to-end automated test coverage using Ghost Inspector. Ensure new feature test cases are created and maintained in the automation suite.

Role Requirements

• Experience with test automation tools — Ghost Inspector and Zoho experience desirable.
• Strong background in automated testing (essential).
• Experience with functional, regression, and integration testing.
• Good understanding of software development and Agile methodologies.
• Ability to create and maintain automation test suites.
