Patent Litigation Associate Attorney

Locations: Boston, MA; Connecticut; Miami, FL; New York, NY; Parsippany, NJ; Washington, DC.

Direct Counsel is seeking a Patent Litigation Associate Attorney to join an established East Coast-based law firm with national and international reach. The ideal candidate will have 4–6 years of commercial or intellectual property litigation experience, with patent litigation experience preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other litigation documents.

• Take and defend depositions.

• Prepare and respond to discovery requests.

• Conduct legal research and develop litigation strategies.

• Manage cases, deadlines, and competing priorities.

• Participate in hearings, trial preparation, and other litigation proceedings.

• Collaborate with clients and colleagues to deliver effective legal solutions.

• Develop client relationships while working on sophisticated patent disputes and other complex litigation matters.

Requirements:

• 4–6 years of commercial or intellectual property litigation experience.

• Patent litigation experience preferred.

• Strong legal writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.

• Ability to manage competing deadlines and work collaboratively with clients and colleagues.

• Active bar membership in good standing in the jurisdiction where the candidate will practice.

• Admission to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office preferred, but not required.

• A bachelor's degree in engineering or a scientific field is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Salary: $200,000–$260,000 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, skills, and office location.

• Eligibility for a discretionary year-end merit bonus.

• Hybrid work arrangement allowing attorneys to work remotely two days per week.
