Lead – Paraprofessional (Berko) (Internal) (SY26-27) Starting Date: Immediately Job Description Title: Lead – Paraprofessional (Berko) (Internal) (SY26-27) Reports to: Building Principal or Designee Duration: 2025-2026 school year Qualifications: The ideal candidate will be a paraprofessional in CPS who has worked 5+ years in the district and has experience training other new paraprofessionals in the district. A Para Lead will be someone who has demonstrated expertise as a paraprofessional and excitement to teach other paraprofessionals how to be successful in the role. Lead Para Responsibilities: Train and guide new paraprofessionals to excel in the position Introduce the new paraprofessional to staff members and help navigate who to go to for various tasks Provide information on important dates/deadlines and guidance on other topics related to the role Support with navigating technical issues Provide support for new paras in their first 2 years of employment (during the school day: 2 half-hour sessions per month; up to 2 hours per month after the regular work day; timeframe designated by the Principal) Keep a log of the number of paraprofessionals who consulted with the Lead para and the topics raised Track hours on time sheets and submit to the Clerk Attend 4-6 district-wide meetings throughout the school year Application: Upload a letter of interest to the "documents" section of your application in TalentEd. Lead Paras will also receive $100 per month during the school year (up to 10 months).
