Express Employment Professionals is recruiting an experienced Accountant & Payroll Specialist for a well-established company in Northern Minnesota. What You'll Do

As the Accountant & Payroll Specialist, you'll oversee daily accounting operations while ensuring accurate payroll processing and financial reporting. This position plays a key role in maintaining the company's financial health and supporting office operations.

Primary Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle accounting, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, general ledger, purchasing, and payroll accounting
• Process bi-weekly payroll accurately while maintaining confidentiality
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, vendor statements, and customer accounts
• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and assist with month-end and year-end closing
• Generate financial reports and assist leadership with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
• Prepare payroll tax filings and maintain compliance with federal and state regulations
• Monitor outstanding receivables and assist with collections as needed
• Maintain employee payroll records, benefits deductions, and tax withholdings
• Set up customer accounts, prepare invoices, process payments, and maintain vendor records
• Maintain organized financial records and assist with additional administrative projects as needed

Requirements

We're looking for someone who brings both accounting expertise and exceptional attention to detail.

• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, CPA or related field
• Previous experience of 5+ years in an accounting, finance, or CPA role with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities independently
• Working knowledge of accounting principles, financial recordkeeping, and payroll practices
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize deadlines in a fast-paced office environment
• High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential financial and personnel information
• Proficiency using accounting software
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail
• Professional communication skills with the ability to work effectively with employees, vendors, and customers
