About the Role Our Internal Controller is a business-minded professional who thrives in a fast-paced working environment. In this role, the ideal candidate is a critical and empathetic thinker, remains calm under pressure, and thrives on providing accurate, comprehensive reporting, support and company compliance. This person will become a subject matter expert on all accounting duties and will be the key contact with internal managers and supervisors, as well as interact with outside professionals. Our Controller will be responsible for the full cycle internal accounting responsibilities as well as working closely with the Executive Team to produce financial statements and management reports. Specific examples of a typical day/week are as follows: Internal Accounting Operations and Management – Understand the metrics of a successful, engaged team that works efficiently and effectively in providing our services internally to our team members and management. Provide continuous full-cycle accounting, ensuring that complex issues are resolved, and internal expectations are managed and exceeded with a high degree of efficiency and effectiveness. Perform and manage transactional accounting, general bookkeeping responsibilities that include managing AP, AR, General Ledger, account reconciliations and payroll. Responsible for new client set up, invoicing and monitoring. Monitor cash flow, account balances, and financial risk. Manage accounting software and implement process improvement. Perform month-end and year-end closing processes. Complete monthly bank and credit card reconciliations. Review, file and track quarterly payroll tax filings. Our Controller is an expert at balancing detailed projects and tight deadlines, while maintaining consistent communication internally. The Controller analyzes challenges and devises out-of-the-box solutions. The following software systems are used frequently, and extensive experience is preferred: Sage Intacct Versapay ADP WorkForce Now MS Office Products We are looking for a candidate who can handle the full cycle accounting from deposits, monthly client invoicing, accounts payable to prepping payroll and financial statements. Here are the primary skillsets and characteristics a successful candidate will possess: 3+ years experience as a controller, 2+ years experience supervising a team. Organized, detail-oriented, and ability to be a task master if/when necessary. Very good communication skills (written and verbal) and presentation skills. 2+ years experience interacting with executive teams or business owners is preferred. Intermediate to advanced computer skills working with various office equipment, computers and programs including Sage intact, databases, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
