Director of Nursing

Kahala Nui, considered Hawaii's premier Senior Living Community is looking for an experienced Director of Nursing (DON). The DON is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and administration of the 60-bed Skilled Nursing department of the Hi'olani Care Center at Kahala Nui. The DON ensures the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care, provides strategic and operational oversight of nursing staff, clinical programs, regulatory compliance, quality improvement initiatives, staffing, and associate development. The DON collaborates with interdisciplinary team to promote clinical excellence, patient safety, and organizational goals while fostering a culture of malama, accountability, compassion, and continuous improvement.Key Responsibilities include, but not limited to:Direct and oversee daily operations of the Skilled Nursing department.Ensure compliance with CMS, state, and local regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies.Recruit, develop, coach, and retain department's personnel.Monitor quality assurance, patient safety, and performance improvement initiatives.Develop staffing plans, schedules, and workforce strategies to meet patient care needs.Manage departmental budgets, resources, and operational performance.Collaborate with physicians, the IDT, and other associates to achieve organizational objectives.Investigate and resolve clinical, personnel, and patient care concerns.Promote a positive and inclusive culture of malama.Valid state of Hawaii Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.Bachelors degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.Three (3) years of experience in in long term care.Progressive nursing leadership experience, including supervisory or management responsibilities.Strong knowledge of healthcare, CMS, and state regulations.Course training or certification in infection control.Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to communicate with residents, families, and associates.Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.Ability to solve problems independently.Strong proficiency with basic computer functions, including email, web browsers, standard office applications, and electronic health records systems to document resident care and clinical workflows per regulation.
