NDDOT Equipment Operator II Salary $4,840 per month


NDDOT Equipment Operator I Salary $4,289 per month

Normal hours are 7:30 am to -3:30 pm. As part of a rotating schedule winter hours for this position will be 2:30 p.m. to 11 00 p.m. from November through April. Shift differential schedules will be established by the district weekly and will be paid a shift differential of $2.00 per hour.


Filling this position as an Equipment Operator in Training may be considered if unable to fill as an Operator I or Operator II. The salary would be $4,075 per month.


As an Equipment Operator, you will perform highway, roadway, and structure maintenance. This includes operating heavy equipment to perform required maintenance duties like basic snow and ice control/removal. You will complete highway maintenance duties, which include assisting in installing, repairing, and maintaining highway signs and guardrails. To complete these tasks and others assigned, you will operate power tools and other equipment to perform maintenance duties. Part of this job is to keep the roadways clear of any hazards, this includes litter, waste, debris, garbage, and carcasses.


You will complete building and ground maintenance duties, and general routine maintenance of the roadway and radio system equipment. You will also perform minor preventive and repair maintenance on vehicles and equipment. Maintain necessary paperwork, including time records, activity reporting, daily diary, road reports, etc. You will receive training and perform construction project duties under close supervision.

Minimum Qualifications


To be considered as an Equipment Operator II, you must have a valid North Dakota Class A driver license without air brake restrictions and a cargo tank endorsement (N) by the first day of work. In addition, two years of relevant experience or one year of experience and one season of winter operations similar to NDDOT.


To be considered as an Equipment Operator I, you must have a valid North Dakota Class B driver license without air brake restrictions.

If unable to find a candidate with preferred experience, will consider filling this position as an Equipment Operator in Training, which requires a valid North Dakota Class A driver permit without air brake restrictions and a cargo tank endorsement (N) by the first day of work. The employee will have 12 months to obtain a North Dakota Class A driver license without air brake restrictions and a cargo-tank endorsement (N).

*Military Occupational Specialties (MOS) reflecting the required abilities for this position may be substituted for the required work experience on a year-for-year basis. Related MOS codes include Truck Driver (88M), Horizontal Construction Engineer (12N), and Pavements & Construction (3E2X1).


This position requires reporting to work within 30 minutes, after hours, on weekends, and on holidays during emergency events.


Employment of the selected candidate will be contingent on satisfactorily completing the interview process and the required drug test, job function screening, reference check,driver record check and federal clearinghouse query screening.
