Senior Transportation Project Engineer

Our Transportation Practice is hiring a Senior Project Engineer for a hybrid role based in our Providence, RI office. We will also consider candidates in the Greater Boston or Connecticut area. This position is responsible for the technical supervision of complex transportation projects and ensuring work conforms to the contractual scope, budget, and schedule. Primary Responsibilities: Serves as the Technical Lead for the transportation components of more complex projects Coordinates technically among design disciplines and subconsultants Leads the development of 3D roadway design models using AutoCAD Civil3D in accordance with RIDOT standards and workflows Oversees or prepares plan sets, special provisions, and cost estimates for roadway design projects Assists Project Managers with: Planning, coordination, and execution of projects of varying size Compliance with project schedules and budgets; actively reporting progress and identifying additional work outside the scope Developing technical approaches, schedules, and fee estimates for proposals on large-scale or complex projects Develops technical solutions for complex roadway projects Maintains positive client relationships Participates in developing the technical approach for proposals Supervises and trains less experienced staff, provides daily guidance, and mentors junior staff Manages a direct report, including workload management, timesheet and expense approvals, and career development guidance Maintains quality control by reviewing designs, calculations, and assumptions Prepares for and performs oral presentations to the public, municipal boards, clients, and professional associations What we're looking for Bachelors of Science in Civil or Environmental Engineering 5+ years of roadway design experience Professional Engineering License, or working toward licensure within one year, in applicable states or ability to obtain by reciprocity Strong writing skills to prepare technical memoranda, reports, proposals, contracts, and subcontract scopes of work Knowledge of RIDOT plan set requirements and design process is a plus Valid US driver’s license with a clean driving record Why you'll love working for us Company-subsidized medical and dental Company-paid life, short, and long-term disability 401k match, tuition assistance, and more Cross-training and the ability to work on a variety of projects Performance-based bonuses or other incentives Working with the best and brightest in the industry 2,000+ employee national firm with 70+ locations across the US Annual Expected Pay Range $100,000 - $130,000 USD Apex Job Title: Sr Project Engineer We believe in equality for all and celebrate the diversity and differences of our employees, customers, and communities.
