Respiratory Therapist

This is a 13-week contract position.

Day shift; 3x12 hours.

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by delivering intensive respiratory care and facilitating patient transport as medically prescribed, within the scope of their professional license and with minimal supervision. This includes evaluating patients, recommending treatment plans, and educating patients about their therapy upon discharge.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using a variety of ventilatory equipment, including both invasive and non-invasive methods.
• Operate oxygen, aerosol devices, and nebulizers to administer prescribed medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation.
• Perform chest physiotherapy to promote secretion clearance and suctioning of patients through various methods.
• Monitor vital signs and perform oximetry and capnography according to established policy.
• Review patient chest x-rays to evaluate treatment needs and perform pulmonary function studies.
• Assist with respiratory care procedures such as bronchoscopy, chest tube placements, and tracheostomy care.
• Perform arterial puncture and manage ventilation efficiency through testing and monitoring.
• Facilitate communication with attending and pulmonary physicians regarding treatment efficacy.
• Maintain accurate respiratory therapy records and charge information, ensuring proper documentation and entry.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

• Current license as a Respiratory Therapist.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required.
• Experience with mechanical ventilation and various respiratory support modalities.
